I think President Obama is a geniune guy.

I believe he's genuinely trying to find the best way through a maze of competing interests and rivalries both at home and abroad.

If you look at the byzantine nature of politics you can see that sometimes even our own allies both internal and external have different interests and goals that often work against our own goals.

There have been a number of interesting articles posted on DU recently that shed more light on this.

For me, I like the disinfectant of sunlight, I like to see everyone put their cards on the table and I'd like to see us thread a way through the labyrinth that helps everyone.

I remember reading his autobiography during the 2008 campaign. It seemed like he always tried to consider all sides of an issue and find a compromise that would benefit everyone. I know that is what some dislike about him, but he is a pragmatist. I thought it came from his balancing his mixed heritage and his experiences of living in a different culture.

I don't always agree with him either, but I feel secure with him in the WH, knowing that he is a deep thinker and not a hot head.

And no doubt Obama is well intended...but that does not change the facts, which are that the only interests that count is the interests of the 1%...it is just a fact of our system.
And our hope should be to change the system, because until we do, no president no matter how well intended he or she is will satisfy anyone but the 1%.

As long as we're talking about disinfectants and sunlight and stuff, I'd also like to hear a genuine-guy type explanation of his insanely aggressive persecution of whistleblowers. For one thing.
