Report: GOP Senate would threaten Obama with Government Shutdown

Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) "has a game plan to confront President Barack Obama with a stark choice next year: Accept bills reining in the administration's policies or risk a government shutdown," Politico reports.

"In an extensive interview here, the typically reserved McConnell laid out his clearest thinking yet of how he would lead the Senate if Republicans gain control of the chamber. The emerging strategy: Attach riders to spending bills that would limit Obama policies on everything from the environment to health care, consider using an arcane budget tactic to circumvent Democratic filibusters and force the president to 'move to the center' if he wants to get any new legislation through Congress."

Get the word out that if you elect a GOP Senate this is what is in store. Hopefully we can defeat that turtle McConnell this year.

has worked so well for the GOP in the past that I'm not surprised turtleman is figuring that it should work well again.

The fact that the GOP manages to get any members elected really makes me understand the stupidity of the average citizen.

There must be something that I'm just missing that makes these people vote the way they do. Something beyond my understanding.

Once we figure that one out, the battle will be won. Personally, I see the modern Republican Party's success as little more than backlash against the enormous gains in power and privilege secured by women and minorities over the past hundred years. Humans, being social animals, are made fearful by rapid social changes, and we've seen tremendous changes over the last century.

They made me burn all my vacation hours in October. I won't forget that anytime soon and yet so many co-workers have already. AMAZING!
