Choosing to stand
It’s not as if we weren’t warned.
Long before we invaded Iraq we were told - repeatedly - that removing Saddam would create a vacuum that would be filled by Al Qaeda and worse. We KNEW this would happen, but the Cheney/Bush team held to an agenda determined to ignore all reason in order to chase profit.
They didn’t give a damn about the deaths of 4000 of our military, they didn’t give a damn about the death and destruction of hundreds of thousands in the place that gave birth to civilization, and they sure as hell don’t give a damn about the beheading of a journalist. The only thing that concerns them is the preservation of their bloody ill-gotten fortunes, and to that end they support current candidates.
So go ahead, ask me again why I do what I do, why phone banks and canvassing matter, why registering voters matters.
I choose to stand with those who DO give a damn.
