What the Market Basket deal says about American workers
{snip}
Though not everyone may have heard of this story, it is indeed the biggest labor story of the year. And if it emboldens others to speak out for similar workplace causes, it may turn out to be the most important workplace event to come along so far in this century.

(135,425 posts)Everyone is SO frigging happy. The workers are hard at work, the aisles were filling up with people who were shopping and smiling at one another, they still don't have their FFV (fresh fruits and veggies) back online, but I needed a shitload of everything. I'll go back for the fresh stuff when they get some.
Yee haw. Love that MB!

(59,440 posts)I haven't seen that many happy people since....well I don't think I've ever seen that many happy people all at once. Even the customers were hugging perfect strangers....lol. That's Newburyport for ya.

Kudos to all who worked so hard on this outcome!

(297,322 posts)It's chilling! From your link, gray..
"The broad base of community support for these courageous employees suggests that many could relate to the causes they fought fora boss who cares for and treats employees with respect, a business model they can be proud of and use to build bonds with customers, and a fair distribution of the profits they help generate. The social media conversations the case sparked suggest many others are looking for their own ways to speak out and perhaps mobilize against unfairness, inequality, and greedy bosses or owners and to support leaders who buck these trends."
Sorry, I can't resist..
