A dozen part-time UPS workers in Minneapolis took protest action on the job August 22, after discovering ties between Missouri law enforcement and a company, Law Enforcement Targets, whose shipments we handle each day.

Some of us removed the company’s packages from trucks that would deliver them to law enforcement. Others, in solidarity, refused to ferry these packages to their intended trailers.

Others posed with a sign reading “#handsupdontship.” The phrase “hands up, don’t shoot” has come to symbolize protest over the police shooting of Michael Brown, an unarmed, black 18-year-old in Ferguson, Missouri.

We decided we could not be silent while our work was contributing to the militarized violence that police are directing at Ferguson residents in the aftermath of Brown’s death.

to the manufacturer and refund their shipping costs.

I'm fine with anyone who doesn't want to participate in arming the police. But they shouldn't steal from the manufacturer by taking money for a service they will not perform.

Maybe the manufacturer should try the USPS.

Suggesting that an employee who deliberately prevents a legal item from being delivered to the recipient be fired? I'd fire them too. Protest on your time. And yes, I'm saying that as a business owner.

NEWBIE troll alert.

Your not much at reading comprehension! Try reading a little slower. Now who is a genius?

They make TARGETS. The company is selling racist targets to boot.

We don't have anything like this at the police dept I work for.

for the purpose of collecting fines and foreclosures.

Everybody having a little moral fit about "theft" should know that these shipments are paid for by robbing the poor and minority communities through deliberate biased policing tactics, the sole purpose of which is to puff up the revenue of municipalities while reducing taxes on the people and businesses who can most afford to pay them. It's beyond regressive taxation; it is theft, coercion, a "protection" racket all run by our police. I feel ZERO moral qualms about this direct action while municipalities all over this country are floating the white middle class and upper classes by aggressive policing and fine-taking from poor and minority communities. Fuck your claims of "Theft." You're neither honest nor moral as long as you're not shouting mad about that.

"hear, hear!" It is an abbreviation for "hear, all ye good people, hear what this brilliant and eloquent speaker has to say!"
