Workers Cheer Return of Ousted Market Basket CEO
Market Basket employees hug after watching a televised speech by restored Market Basket chief Arthur T. Demoulas.
By DENISE LAVOIE
BOSTON -- As Arthur T. Demoulas made a triumphant return Thursday to lead the Market Basket supermarket chain, it was the words of his employees that summed up their fierce loyalty to him that led to a remarkable workers' revolt that nearly crippled the New England chain but eventually put him back on top.

"This is a huge labor issue that was won despite what people said," customer Carol Levesque said. "The power of the people -- the shoppers and workers and that's a tribute to who (Demoulas) is."

The unbridled joy on the Market Basket's employee says it all, she! Thank you for the article.. from your link..
"In a Market Basket store in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, 93-year-old Al Gerrato said it felt like "the end of the war."
And, this is what we're Fighting for and what Labor Day is all about.. the wars we've won.. past, present, and future!

(8,434 posts)I didn't go to a single store. Everyone who toils at the bottom for subsistence living should have been off today.
I refused to take part. Instead I caught up on doing nothing at all for a change.

(17,656 posts)The semi-annual Labor Day picnic is a time for concerned Democrats, union members, members of the middle class, and poor people to get together to strategize how to return this country to the "good old days" of working together as a team to secure better working conditions and higher wages for everyone.
The picnic today was no different with plenty of potato salad, hot dogs, hamburgers, Democratic politicians, union members -- past and present -- and dozens of people getting together in the park to talk about how we can get more Democrats elected to the US Congress, the state legislature, and get a Democrat in the Governor's office!!!

We're going to take the white trash from Idaho from out of the US government of these United States, and from this state!
I signed up to canvas for all 3 campaigns.
It's now or never.

It really is a huge deal.. when I think back to all those years I worked and all the workers who have and have come before to make so many things possible for so many.
