If someone is shot or killed in the course of an assault/robbery/battery/other violent crime, it's a 25 year minimum mandatory prison sentence, extensible to life in prison. No idea if this case would qualify, as it would depend on how the prosecutor classified the incident up until Martin's death. More likely the pursuit would probably constitute several misdemeanors.
