Glenn Grothman, Wisconsin state senator: Women make less because ‘Money is more important for men’

-snip-

He argued to the Daily Beast that whatever wage gap exists is because women are more focused on raising children.

“Take a hypothetical husband and wife who are both lawyers,” Grothman told the website. “But the husband is working 50 or 60 hours a week, going all out, making 200 grand a year. The woman takes time off, raises kids, is not go, go, go. Now they're 50 years old. The husband is making 200 grand a year, the woman is making 40 grand a year. It wasn’t discrimination. There was a different sense of urgency in each person.”

He then argued wage differences did not result from discrimination but because men care more about money.

“You could argue that money is more important for men,” he said. “I think a guy in their first job, maybe because they expect to be a breadwinner someday, may be a little more money-conscious. To attribute everything to a so-called bias in the workplace is just not true.”

Is this a ploy to get folks to vote for the GOP in the fall or is this real action, time will tell. They need to get control of those such as Cruz and his TP buddies. The future will tell, either the GOP will start listening to the citizens of the US or the Koch brothers. Their way has not met with good results, the economy will not recover under the current path. If companies such as McDonalds, etc has big bucks to pay to executives, then they have the money to increase the salaries of their workers. Dollars paid for salaries needs to be divided fairly, stop the sucking off of earnings to the company for the benefit of executives.

Republicans consistently vote against wage equality/fairness legislation.

Perhaps you missed this part: ... the White House & Democrats believe paying women less than men is an acceptable practice.

I do agree with you that corporations need to pony up and start paying employees fairly. Who the heck will be able to pay for goods and services at the rate we seem to be going?!

them so they CAN just keep with lie after lie without consequence.

The mass media is not the root of all this evil, but it is the primary enabler.
