Two-step process:
Step 1). Charges filed
Step 2). Zimmerman arrested
Charges can be filed electronically. The news conference is coming up in two hours, but if the Special Prosecutor has already filed, the arrest might have already happened or could be in progress (assuming they know where to look for him).
"Once he's arrested he'll need to be brought here" (Seminole County Jail, A.K.A. John E. Polk Correctional Facility).
Cameras everywhere.

(30,885 posts)I don't think the Special Prosecutor has to say anything about an arrest until she announces the charges. She has the right to have him arrested the minute the charges are filed.
But part of what's happening is that the media is stirring up a frenzy over "what's going to happen at 3:00" (Pacific). It's going to make for a much better "show," and give them much more to talk about, if Zimmerman's in custody.
One thing we'll know for sure, at 3:00, is whether or not Zimmerman's ex-attorney's prediction that he would turn himself in if charges were filed is true or not. Doesn't matter if he's been returning calls or not. It's been public knowledge for the last hour and a half that charges are going to be announced at 3.
If he's "out of Florida," he's either arranging transportation back or he's gone deeper into hiding. We shall see. It's all speculation, but as MSNBC stated, he might already be in custody.
