In the FWIW Department - Dave Domina & Northern Nebraska
Today, I was in North Central Nebraska. O'Neill/Atkinson/Ainsworth. This is hunting and fishing country -- farmers and ranchers. Guns and pickups. Hardly a hotbed of liberals.
It's also ground zero in the Keystone XL fight.
I drove along US 20/275 from Ainsworth toward the east today, and I saw a couple of signs for Pete Ricketts (aka Voldemort) and some state reps from the other team. What I also saw were many (at least 8 that I could count) large yard signs for Democratic Senate candidate Dave Domina. Several of these were accompanied by smaller "Stop TransCanada" yard signs.
I'm not going to pretend that these folks have suddenly become progressives, but it bears pointing out that during this journey (and I looked), I did not spot one sign Domina's opponent -- Teabagger Ben Sasse.
I'm not telling anyone to put this in the Blue column or even to get your hopes up. But pundits gave this race up for dead months ago, and it looked pretty competitive from what I saw today.
