Notoriously bigoted Rep. Steve King polling only at **47%** in his district

This is from page 5 a Loras College poll conducted in King's Western Iowa district earlier this month:

Q19. And in the election for U.S. Congress, if the election were held today and you had to choose a candidate, would you vote for Jim Mowrer, the Democrat or Steve King, the Republican?

In 2012, in his new district that absorbed new places in Iowa never before represented by him, King won his closest House election by a 53%-45% margin against former Iowa First Lady Christie Vilsack.

Here's Steve King's old congressional district he served from 2003-2013. Pretty much Nowhere Land, USA.

And now that Iowa has only 4 seats in the House, King has a larger district (the 4th) now - which includes Democratic-leaning areas like Ames (home of Iowa State University, college towns often lean blue) and Mason City (which is in Democratic-occupied state house and senate districts, according to the Iowa legislator search engine).

Here are King's more notoriously bigoted statements:

"For every (undocumented immigrant) who's a valedictorian, there's another 100 out there who weigh 130 pounds — and they’ve got calves the size of cantaloupes because they're hauling 75 pounds of marijuana across the desert." Source

"When you think about the optics of a Barack Obama potentially getting elected President of the United States – I mean, what does this look like to the rest of the world? What does it look like to the world of Islam? I will tell you that, if he is elected president, then the radical Islamists, the al-Qaida, the radical Islamists and their supporters, will be dancing in the streets in greater numbers than they did on September 11." Source

"Undocumented Democrats are more important to (Obama) than national security." Source

"This idea of no racial profiling, I've seen the video. It looks to me like you don't need to bother with that particular factor because they all appear to be of a single, you know, of a single origin, I should say, a continental origin might be the way to phrase that." When speaking about protesters in Ferguson, MO; source

"You're very good at English." He actually said this to a Mexican immigrant activist advocating the DREAM Act, which would provide a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants who were brought here as children and who complete higher education.

Jim Mowrer's website is: http://mowrerforiowa.com/

Mowrer and King will debate on Oct. 9 at Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, IA and later in Sioux City (date TBD).

This is a seat that the Democrats can steal in 2014, like the Senate seats in GA and KY. Now I also learn that Lindsey Graham is polling only in the lower 40s in SC, and Thad Cochran only in the upper 40s in MS (following Chris McDaniel insisting HE really won the primary). Kansas could be a steal too if the state supreme court ultimately removes withdrawing (D) nominee Chad Taylor from the ballot, leaving the election between vulnerable incumbent Pat Roberts and popular independent candidate Greg Orman.

And think about this. When Allen West moved from a jagged, gerrymandered district to a more geometrical one in 2012, he lost his re-election bid! Competitive districts put Tea Party nuts at risk. I hope Steve King in 2014 becomes the ousted wingnut of the year like West was in 2012.

If you live in King's district, please get people to realize how bigoted King is and GOTV for Mowrer!
