believe that a white man would only be with a black woman if she is a whore. The fact that he is all tatted up probably also fed into their stereotyping.

OTOH, the cops might not have even really believed there was anything suspicious going on. They didn't recognize the couple as celebrities, so they might have merely seen an opportunity to amuse themselves by hassling a pretty young black woman and a guy who looked like someone they *could* get away with hassling.

I don't believe their story, either, about getting a call concerning the couple. I believe that's just CYA because they stopped and harassed her with absolutely NO probable cause, then handcuffed and humiliated her in public. California is not a stop and identify state, so without probable cause, they had no right to deman ID or to detain her when she refused to cooperate with their *unlawful* demand for ID.
