Witnesses to a police stop in Missouri say cops used excessive force when they used a Taser on a 17-year-old boy who is now reportedly in critical condition.
"You could tell the kid was going into convulsions," witness Michelle Baker told Fox4kc.com. "[The cop] turned him over and his head was dangling ... and he had blood coming out."
*The driver ... refused to roll down the window," Schmdley said. "The officer was able to get the door open. The driver refused to get out of the vehicle. A struggle ensued [and] a Taser was employed by the officer."
Masters' friend, 17-year-old Curtis Martes, told Fox4kc.com that he was on his porch when the traffic stop occurred and heard Masters tell the officer he was unable to roll the window down.
"I hear[d] him say ... 'I can't roll down my window [because] it's broke,'" Martes told Fox4kc.com.
In a separate interview with KCTV, Martes said Masters' father is an officer with the Kansas City Police Department.
Masters was transported to CenterPoint hospital, where he reportedly remains listed in critical condition Monday, with swelling in his brain."

(16,286 posts)the outrageous police brutality specifically on minorities, and that it is vastly more common than against non minorities, each day we are seeing a police force anywhere in america where they feel like they can do anything they want to anybody.
The ONLY people you will NEVER see this used on are the oligarchs and the one percent.

(115,735 posts)To your point: Minorities, especially black males, get it a lot worse than most other people, but it seems like nobody is safe if a cop feels his "authority" is being questioned.

(30,439 posts)If the victim was black and didn't have a father as a police officer, this would be swept under the rug. Of course that would be after the victim's reputation is attacked and people try to uncover past drug use as proof of...well....something....
That's the unfortunate reality in AmeriKKKa.

(115,735 posts)There might even be an investigation for this one, which would be only cursory (if any at all) if the kid had been black. The fact that the father is a police officer also suggests that this boy would know better than to try to fight with a cop and that the arresting officer's story is not credible.
Hope the kid recovers.

(39,215 posts)great grand child to say it. I heard her say hands up once and just automatically responded don't shot. She is a blond blue eyed Native American. And yes she probably will never experience this type of harassment but maybe she will remember that she once saw it.

(115,735 posts)That's good; it needs investigating. But they also ought to investigate every damn time the cops beat up or tase or shoot some black kid. Maybe then it would finally stop.
