The fact that....
John McCain almost brought this piece of garbage within a heart beat of the Presidency of the
United States Of America..
And he has the fucking gaul to consistently criticize President Obama on almost every issue he handles,
Why are Dems. not reminding him of this fact every time he opens his fat mouth?

It's happened again.

(4,735 posts)dehumanizing and bigoted. So yes, it is still offensive and IMO wrong. How offensive is up to the listener/reader.
My point is/was that labels used to dehumanize a person are wrong in and of themselves. Even if you REALLY disagree with the thoughts/actions of that person.

(1,423 posts)the way your OP is written. Granted the Palins fit all the stereotypes but if you said that about any other race you would be censored on this board.

(20,821 posts)stands by his inexplicable choice. I couldn't believe it when he continued to insist that his had been "the most marvelous VP pick in American history" even in 2010, and he probably still makes himself think so. Yeah, she was something to "marvel" at, alright. But sure not in the way he was thinking and meant.

(59,507 posts)and helps the President and country more. It is fine for people writing on blogs to constantly question "Why Palin", but it would actually - in a strange way - give credence to whatever criticism McCain is making. This is because some might take it as they could not defend the President, so they bashed McCain.
From many accounts, McCain wanted Lieberman -- and the party balked. He then took a candidate who had become the darling of the right. Very little was known of her - and the early press they put out showed her as a reformer - even in her own party. It did not take long for her weaknesses (how's that for a euphemism ) to show.
The difficult think being the nominee in a close election is that you will be pushed to pick a VP, not because he/she is the most qualified to become President, but because the choice makes it most likely for you to win. Not to mention, at that point, they have to depend A LOT on their team. Here, McCain was sold the idea that she would win the HRC vote (after all they are identical - both women (!) ) and that she had a reputation as a maverick like he did.
Where Lieberman would have been someone he respected and had worked with for decades, Palin was a wild chance to win a race that he was not favored in.

Half-Century Man
(5,279 posts)I think the most frightening thing is; they represent the natural outcome of a forty year conservative attack on government and its abilities to provide social services.
Because of that education suffered, resulting in large blocks of low information citizens. Civil rights suffered, resulting in the continuation of white privilege in place of equality. Eighty percent of the population has seen stagnant or diminishing financial resources, resulting in an ever heavier burden on them.
People are scared and depressed and left with few answers. They have turned to religion (the promise of any reward, even if you have to die to get it, has appeal to the afflicted). They have become angry with no clear target (the low information thing combined with a powerful propaganda effort). They fragment into small groups or clans to pool what little talent and resources they have, keeping us from coming together to halt the attack.
The most frightening thing about Palin and her...........clan is; She is the intended civil product of republican plans.
An armed, angry, low information, controlled through religion, tool. One, I suspect more so everyday, intended to bring down or at least halt the Enlightenment/Age of Reason.

(21,046 posts)As in "Omnia Gallia divisa in tres partes" All Gaul is divided into three parts.
The word you're looking for is "gall" as in gall bladder.
I swear I'm gonna smash something the next time I read that someone "balled" when they were crying.
"Balling" is a different activity than "bawling".
