Is an unemployed, multi-millionaire woman a "Stay at Home Mom"??

I would say no. What SAHM means in coded language for most people involves a great deal of housework, bills, family taxi-ing, budgeting groceries, and providing emotional/life support.

It seems in avoiding using words like "moms who do not work," SAHM's cannot avoid that fact that any woman with kids who does not have a job is a stay at home mom. How can you distinguish? This is a ridiculous conversation.

In other words, I don't mind SAHM in a literal sense, but Ann Romney conflating it with "working" is disingenuous.

a "stay at home mom." I think that term is generally reserved for women with very young or school age children. I think she can best be described as the unemployed wife of a multi-millionaire.

Moms with careers do that AND all of the mother work as well. How is labeling her as a mother who doesn't work supposed to make her look better?

It would be nice if more jobs paid enough to support more one income families so one parent can stay home and spend more time with the kids, but I don't see that happening anytime soon, especially if Republicans are in charge.

Her husband's floundering (among women) campaign. Rosen could have used better wording, a la her apologia, but big deal.

One of the goals of feminism was that women would be able to make choices without being condemned.

Criticising Ann Romney will boomerang on Democrats. I've never been wrong in predicting which strategies will fail and which will succeed. I predicted in late 2007 Obama would probably become President.

How many STAFF did she employ while she was a SAHM?

If she and Mittens employed NO staff to help with household duties, then she can rightfully claim her status.

However...having drivers, shoppers, housekeepers, nannies, gardeners, pool boys, accountants, and all other help that would count as domestic help...negates her claim.
