He appears to be less than forthcoming and seems like he was forced to appear at the press conference. He is a master at protecting the NFL, but less than believable on their handling of the events.

Goodell is trial judge, appellate judge, jury and executioner. He is in essence an autocrat.

Another could be the players see him as do many other, somewhat more objective participants than those who state editorial as fast.
