And creating heat to stay warm is not an unknown science.

What is unknown, but widely studied, is how a nuclear winter with a 100,000 year irradiated atmosphere could effect the planet.

Anyway, all it would take is a few minutes of cascading series of mistakes in certain control booths before the nuclear winter would be settling in.

Or not even mistakes, but certain buttons being pushed.

WWIII will only start when a very large nuke goes off in Russia, the US, or Israel. Maybe we could throw in Pakistan vs. India but that would be iffy. Outside of that, the wars will continue in their non-WWIII condition for the next 2 billion years, give or take.

This is not the eve of destruction, we have been on this same war wagon for 5000 years and we just have bigger toys and more lives to loose.

As for the earth... The earth is just fine.. and when it decides to extinguish us because of our not playing nice on it's playground, and it will do just that, and we will be finished, and it won't even be a glitch in Earth's history. Just a page turn.
