There is lots more at the link.
Neil Young eg, wrote a song for the movement.
Click through to here an acoustic version of the track, Whos Gonna Stand Up.
Ban Ki Moon, UN Sec. Gen. attended the march.
The Bishop of London spoke to the people.
And credit to JOHN KERRY for his statement:
Thanks to all who helped make this happen. Those on the streets and those who helped organize all over the world.
Australia's PM apparently isn't interested so let's hope voters there can replace him with someone who is. Australia hosted marches in several cities.
Thanks again the Sen. Bernie Sanders for his public support for this most important issue!
Run Bernie, Run!

(62,325 posts)other ways. Eg, Avaaz, which is a Global organization that now has millions of members worldwide, set up a petition and got over 2 million signatures which they presented to the French President:
Just signing a petition like this helps and circulating it among friends, on social media etc.
I could not go this time either, for personal reasons but this was just the beginning.
I think it is amazing to see the people now going Global as the Corps have done for decades. They have an advantage, to be sure, but when the people unite, they better watch out!

(45,251 posts)I wish more organizers of events would think in terms of same day, many places. It's usually much easier, and less expensive, to picket your own city hall or state house than to converge on D.C. Especially since I never seem to read about an upcoming event until the day before, or even the same morning.

(62,325 posts)the Fall of 2012. It was awe-inspiring to see. Naturally it wasn't covered by the Corporate Media, but thankfully it was hugely covered on the internet.
And there is now coordination across the world on issues such as the Dock Workers eg.
In protest of Israel's bombardment of Gaza, Israel's ships are being blocked from docking in Ca with support from European dock workers.
We can't do anything as individual countries anymore. The Corps and Govts are Global, even our Civilian Police Depts have gone global with POs being trained in countries like Israel eg.
It took a while for the people to catch up but it seems they are on THEIR way now to making these protests that affect everyone, Global.

(62,325 posts)you have there.
I saw no media coverage of the Global marches, so I thought we should at least have something here on DU to record it.

(62,325 posts)We're bombing Syria, much more important to keep the oil flow going than to save the planet I suppose.

(62,325 posts)might be a good idea to show how the world's PEOPLE are choosing to try to save this planet AND end all these oil wars at the same time.
Hopefully it is the first of many such Global events which will only grow over time.
I believe now that protesting our never ending wars, is a waste of time, energy and money. They are not going to stop.
THIS is a far better way to begin the process of removing the cause of those wars but we need leaders who are willing, as Bernie Sanders and a few others have been, to support ending our dependence on oil.
That gives me a bit of hope.
