I am way out in Iowa.. but the drought area has been in our thoughts and prayers.. hope it is a soaking easy rain that lasts and kills the fires but does not flood the burned areas..

generally, starting in may, i have to water a couple times a week.... into sept. that would be about 35 times a season. i have been ale to watch weather, and time it and only water 5 times. totally fuggin amazing. and all the while i watch the west.

i am from that area. i am sicken, absolutely hate what i am seeing.

we had that kind of drought give or take, 3-5 yrs ago. horrible experience.

i am glad you are getting something.

Absolutely the heaviest rain we've had since, well, it's been so long, I can't remember.

I grew up in the Bay Area and remember a couple awful droughts -- especially the one in the mid-70s where we were rationing water. It's so disturbing when everything is brown and dead and the lakes are down to nothing.

Now I live in the Northwest where we generally have no rain shortage. When it's gray and drizzly for days on end I think back on those brown drought days and make myself appreciate all the moisture (moss, giant slugs and all!).

The state where fires are burning and that is fantastic news, there is no rain falling in the very driest part of the state where food is grown. Central California desperately needs rain.
