Gingrich: ‘The NRA Has Been Too Timid’

Newt Gingrich, in his speech to the National Rifle Association, said he hopes the NRA won’t be offended, but the group has been “too timid.”

“A Gingrich presidency will submit to the United Nations a treaty that extends the right to bear arms as a human right for every person on the planet,” Gingrich said.

Speaking as a citizen of the non-USA part of the planet, most of us don't want to be like the USA when it comes to guns. (Or when it comes to prisons, or healthcare, or capital punishment.) We've seen Bowling for Columbine. We know your homicide rates. We know the NRA buys politicians.

I know so-called American Exceptionalism is an applause line for Newt-type-people, but a lot of us outside your borders think it sounds not only arrogant, but delusional.
