(102,330 posts)I know I've told the story of a major cross country move when several treasured pounds of Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee I'd bought on a vacation disappeared--presumably accidentally thrown out. I obviously have NOT gotten over that and it has been more than a decade!

My blend:
I don't drink straight Kona except on special occasions. The local Bakers (Kroger) has my blend in 10 oz bags for about 5.49 on sale. That is when I stock up. The coffee club at work loves it when I bring it in on my turn.

(269,144 posts)Our one luxury is blue mountain coffee. We are of the view that if we can't drink our own best product after working so hard, none of our hard work makes any sense.
Thankfully we know folks in the business and folks who know folks so we get lots of great coffee 'free'.
There is nothing like freshly roasted blue mountain coffee.

I love George Howell coffee. He's hands down the best roaster in America today.

(60,018 posts)and use a French Press. The difference in regions is remarkable - especially if you aim for a City + to Full City (or whatever is recommended for the particular crop).
Got about 60 lbs of beans in my closet - should get me through the forseeable future!

(5,477 posts)If you're roasing that much coffee, you're probably familiar with different brew methods. However, I'd recommend a clever dripper if you like french press. It has that nice immersion taste but with a clean body of a drip. It makes great coffee and is really easy. I used one to make the top five in brewers cup competition.

(8,217 posts)Basically, make espresso, take a little bit, add sugar and just a few grain of salt to it, and mix it to a froth.
Then put that frothy mixture on top of the coffee.
Friggin Heaven on Earth I tell you.
