oh dear, the "rude one" does Ann Romney....

4/13/2012
Oh, Fuck Ann Romney:
Let's get this out of the way first: Nothing said following this paragraph is meant in any way to denigrate the suffering that Ann Romney has endured first as a victim of multiple sclerosis since 1998 and then as a breast cancer survivor, first diagnosed in 2008. If you know anyone with MS or have it yourself, you know that simply existing can be a pain-filled hell, no matter how much money you have. And, as an MS website notes, ironically now, "Ann's health has become a full-time job for her." So are we clear about that? All respect on dealing with the diseases. Now, that said...

Fuck her. And fuck everyone, from the Obama administration to Fox "news" numbskulls, who piled on what Democratic strategist and CNN contributor Hilary Rosen said on Wednesday night. Rosen didn't say a goddamned thing that was wrong when she offered that Ann Romney "has actually never worked a day in her life."

Ann Romney has lived a privileged, pampered life and she has done nothing that anyone would associate with a "job," and that includes her stay-at-home mothering, readily assisted by nannies and servants. She has a degree in French from Harvard and her major activity is dressage (which, apparently, is some fancy horse thing involving riding crops and jodhpurs and jaunty hats). Rosen was addressing Mitt Romney's remark that he listens to Ann on economic issues affecting women. Mitt Romney getting advice on the economy from his wife is like him getting foreign policy advice from Seamus, the roof-riding family dog. (Although, if you think about it, "Shit yourself until someone hoses you off" isn't bad advice for a nation.)

Are we really doing this again? Are we really having some worthless fucking debate over how hard it is to be a stay-at-home parent? President Obama said, "There's no tougher job than being a mom." Really? Ask a coal miner. Ask a sweatshop worker. It's fucking stupid. Are we just back to Hillary Clinton and the motherfucking cookies? Oh, wait, Michelle Malkin's quoting that 1992 remark, so the Rude Pundit supposes that we are.

Try changing the dirty Kotex of a 250 pound mentally and physically disabled wheelchair-bound woman and then get back to me on how hard it is to raise babies with nannies and maids, Anne. That's the full-time job I had while going to Grad school full-time. When I finished with an MA in Community Mental Health counseling I discovered that while I had been too busy and exhausted to even watch the news, Reagan had systematically dismantled most of the Community Mental Health centers in America. The best economic advice for women Anne could give is "Don't vote for Republicans."

I have 5 bad disks in my back, two bad knees, one bad ankle, and one bad hip. I was retired until this year. I had to go back to work, as my husband lost his job due to the recession and hasn't been able to find another.

Now we run a restaurant together. In spite of working 14-hour days on my feet, lifting 5 gallon kettles of soup, it's a lot easier than anything in the nursing field.

Being a housewife is a piece of cake. Women with jobs have to do everything housewives do, after putting in 8-10 hours in the salt mines.

I usually pay $15 and take him to a local place to get him shampooed because he is so terrible, (I tried to do him in the kitchen sick once and he jumped out of my arms and fell on his back!).

Anyway, I was 3/4 of the way doing it and I was crying from pain in my back. I don't know how these people do this sort of work. I know I have been very lax with the exercises I am supposed to be doing but damn the pain!

He is doing fine now. His wound healed up all better. I was able to put special cream on him and he is good. He just has very sensitive skin.

My point is I don't know how some people work back breaking jobs!

Sat Apr 14, 2012, 11:04 AM
Apr 2012

OMFG!

JFK was a compassionate LEADER that was at the forefront of a new American era of Peace and Prosperity for all. He was a beacon of hope for a better future and for what America could be for all of us.

Bobby in his later years was simply a beautiful and compassionate person. His speeches during the 1968 Presidential Campaign and his Indianapolis speech the day M.L. King was assassinated was filled with love and hope and compassion for others and greatness. There were riots all over the country from the killing, but there was no such thing happening in Indianapolis, perhaps from Bobby's compassion alone?

Teddy was the Liberal Lion for his entire Senate Career and crafted legislation to help the less fortunate all the freaking time.

And then the second generation Kennedy's - gets a little fuzzy info wise for me here, but Bobby JR. is a beautiful person doing beautiful work on behalf of the less fortunate all the time. Still plugging away for justice and fairness any way he can.

Romney-the-Vulture-Capitalist is a different can of worms. He seems to be compassionate only about growing his already staggering fortune even further regardless of the human misery and wrecked lives his form of "enterprise" creates.

I find Mitt to be the epitome of everything wrong with America today. The poster boy of crony capitalism and greed is good and dismantling perfectly fine companies so as to extract the maximum amount of money, wrecked human lives and livelihood be damned.

Why the hell America should even be considering such a SOCIOPATHIC GREEDHEAD for President is beyond my comprehension. Mitt and his Country Club Crony Capitalists are the the root cause of the economic inequality we are currently immersed in at record levels of unfair weath distribution.

Has anybody ever made a body count of jobs Mitt destroyed vs. jobs he created in his business pursuits? That would be one hell of an interesting factoid!

We are the 99% and our country is seriously considering electing a member of the .01%; the fuckers that wrecked everything for all of us? THAT DOES NOT COMPUTE!

All they got us money. We got numbers and boots on the ground. If 99% of us can't beat these 1% fuckers in an election, then we'll deserve our fate! I hope we as a nation aren't that fucking stupid!

"I wish we could get that on the news to all the sheeples out there with their heads in the sand or up their asses watching Faux News."

This is where studying Zappa for 41 years can pay off. The simple answer is that WE CAN GET THIS NEWS OUT TO THE SHEEPLE by simply following Zappa's credo for his career.

First, DON'T STOP

Second, KEEP GOING

Franks artistic efforts were littered with things that failed. Sabotaged collaborations and projects with incredible potential - playing a concert for the Vatican, for one, being asked by Bob Dylan personally to produce an album for another. Mounting an on-broadway play for another. Running for President for another, Getting permission from the Beatles in 1968 to use a satire version of the Sgt. Pepper album cover for another. (They refused so the inside pic of the Mothers in drag was used as the outside) The break-up of the third leg of the 1988 tour for another.

My paltry efforts to whack American sheeple over the head with our creeping fascism is simply to continue to strive to be objective and reasonably well informed. Engage anybody that indicates a willingness to have a discussion about "current affairs", bumper stickers, lawn signs, Democratic Town Committee Meetings, involvement in town boards and commissions, contributing to heroic politicians like Grayson and E. Warren, dogging my Congressman when ever he is holding meetings in our district, and lastly, preaching to the choir on DU. (I also do it because I like to write and it helps collect my thoughts. It is a lot of fun to write stuff that you know at least some people will read. The internet rawks and I seem to be a little OCD about internet message boards)

I haven't changed a single thing that I can see so far, but, you got to stand for what you believe. I do get some satisfaction about going to John Larson's engagements and standing up and telling him I would have preferred a Mafia Godfather in the White House to GW Bush, because at least the people that run the Mafia are smart. (West Hartford Town Hall, 2003, before the Iraq invasion even began)

I do have to practice this Zappa wisdom more in my own life - I just turned 58 and I got a staggering bucket list I better get going on.

I do have to get the time and courage to visit an OCCUPY event, so as to stand for what I believe by possibly getting arrested and sexual humiliated by the police for exercising my Constitutional Right to peaceably assemble with the brave people of OCCUPY.

Here's one thing I did that changed nothing other than being true to myself. I carried a 24" by 24" sign at the September 10, 2009 Tea Party Rally at the Hartford Capital that read:

TEABAGGERS ARE ASTROTURF PUPPETS OF FASCIST CORPORATIONS

(It should have been TEA PARTIERS instead of BAGGERS, as this was the time when they started to realize that their name was also a synonym for a sexual act. It was unintentional disrespect on my part and all people deserve respect.)

I was the only counter-protestor on the grounds that I could see, and it wasn't pleasant, but, part of my beliefs are that us bottom 99% have a lot more in common than our differences, and both sides have to come together as the bottom 99% to overthrow the tyranny of the Top 1%. Our country came to be in part to escape tyranny, so in these times it helps to turn to our Founding Fathers and their intentions to provide all of us for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. (In the words of Dr. Phil; "Hey, America, how's that American Dream workin' out for yah?)

-90% Jimmy

PS - one thing I don't do is write local newspapers. I don't even read them, but, maybe I should at least pick one up now and then. A guy at work brings in his local paper (I work 40 miles from home) and it's actually got some neat stuff in it, these newspapers.

now, get off the net and back to the bucket list, Jim!

22. Reprint from the other Ann Romney thread...
Fri Apr 13, 2012, 07:18 PM
Apr 2012

Hilary Rosen is in no way a paid strategist for the Obama campaign. She's actually a paid troll of right wing media producers to make it look as if she speaks for the Obama campaign. Then Romney strategists can cry 'foul' about some alleged hypocritical attack on a candidate spouse, and drag the Obama campaign down to the level the Republicans are comfortable with.

Not to mention that this is an obvious attempt at yet another false equivalency argument that tries to keep evangelical or unemployed Republican women from bleeding toward the Democratic Party, particularly after the nationwide revelation about ALEC's ten-year, 700-bill organized legal attack against women and the middle class.

Hilary Rosen made a mistake and should not be given a pass. Ann Romney doesn't support any other class of stay-at-home or working women but those of her own church. Sure, both women are 'right' in a very narrow sense, but don't aid and abet some Republican attempt to fool women that they are on their side just because one of the rich ones stayed home, as if any woman voter could 'have an Arnold Palmer or swap recipes' with Ann Romney.

Hilary Rosen is job hunting. The Obama campaign has more serious issues to campaign on. The serious campaigning starts in the summer, and this media dust up is filler.

The excuse that "the right wing does it" is also stupid and childish.
"Fuck Ann Romney" ? really?
Ya, that will get the independents and undecideds over to our side. The woman is supporting her husband in his bid to be president, as any wife would do, republican or democrat.
Democrats debate, we don't attack and insult, that will only create sympathy for her.

"Rosen was addressing Mitt Romney's remark that he listens to Ann on economic issues affecting women."

This is NOT about attacking family members. It is about whether Mitt Romney is smart to rely primarily on his wife to explain to him the issues that women in the US are facing today. The point is, because Ann Romney's life has been extremely privileged financially, that he is not hearing (and has repeatedly shown that he is not even aware of) the economic voices of single women (whether they have children or not) who rely on their own jobs to pay the mortgage, the health insurance, the bills, etc. and have no spouse or partner to bail them out; low income parents; women with kids who work outside the home; women who are the primary breadwinners as part of a couple; women who work and care for elderly parents, disabled spouses, etc.; middle class and professional class women who face discrimination in the workplace; and many, many others. In other words, he is willfully ignorant of the concerns of the vast majority of women in this country (and a few men as well!).

She seems to be the repug's current target of choice these days. Idiots who can't think the whole thing through but live their lives from one knee-jerk reaction to the next.

It irks me when Democrats fall all over themselves to make sure they are not insulting someone. So she stayed home with her children? That doesnt mean she ever worked. Saying that she was a house-wife and saying she never worked DOES NOT MEAN HOUSE-WIVES DONT WORK. Good grief.

But then we have to make sure we qualify the word "work". The definition of "work" to the rich is way different than it is to the working class.
