(18,541 posts)socially conscious and socially responsible, too. It's Camelot, all over again, just a kinder, gentler version. Look at the people they've honored at their dinners, luncheons and other social events - those who contribute to and/or give back to our society (in a positive manner). Not just the rich and famous.
Nancy Reagan may have thrown more parties, but those were far more reminiscent of decadent, imperialist Rome - The emperor of the U.S. showing off his power and connections, tooting his own horn.
I like this version better.

(30,885 posts)I do know it's a possibility. I'd like to think the average American voter is smarter than that, but it's the same American voter who voted for Bush twice (not taking Katherine Harris, Jeb Bush, Diebold, Ken Blackwell, and the SCOTUS into account, of course...they also "helped."
