Discovered an interesting magazine today
In the doctor's office today, amid a sea of Golf Digest, Parents and Rod & Gun, a publication I had never seen caught my eye. Its name: Miller-McCune. I was half-expecting to find it chock-full of conservative claptrap, but to my surprise, it contained articles that lots of DUers would like to read. I didn't have time to read a whole lot, although I finished one enjoyable article - a scholarly deconstruction of The Big Lebowski. There was lots more in the magazine, however: the environment, alternative energy, health...more than I can recall at this moment.

Since its 2008 launch, Miller-McCune has won the Utne Reader Independent Press Award 2009 for science/technology coverage and the 2008-2009 Society of Environmental Journalists Award for Outstanding Explanatory Journalism, and was named one of Library Journals (2009) and MINs "Hottest Launches" (2008).
The magazine was founded by Sara Miller McCune, the founder and head of SAGE Publications. In 2010, she was named to the FOLIO: 40 list of publishing innovators. On February 17, 2012 Miller-McCune announced that the magazine's name would be changed to "Pacific Standard" as of the May-June 2012 edition.
The magazine was created for opinion leaders, policymakers, and concerned citizens who are interested in developing solutions to some of the world’s toughest social and environmental problems. No wonder I never get anything done around the house.
