Remember who controls elections in this country, and that's the folks in the mushy middle who decide the weekend before an election who to vote for. All they do is react to fear, whichever political party scares them the least tends to get their votes.
If Ebola spreads throughout even just a couple of cities in the US, even if it's just a few dozen people or so, then the media will run with it like crazy. If laxity on letting people travel here from Africa can be tied (even completely incorrectly) to a President who has African roots, then the transference is unstoppable.
There's only a bit more than a month before the election, not enough time for logic and reason to prevail, and plenty of time for Internet rumors, misrepresentations, and outright lies to be spread to that mushy middle.
Yeah, no wonder Tweety is squawking.
