This is my first post to the General Discussion list. Not sure if it is correctly placed.
Our national broadcaster the ABC(government funded, no ads) launched a weekly half hour TV programme called Planet America. Devoted to politics in this election year. They have various speakers both Dem and GOP to analyse various issues and influences. The presenters have been associated with a satirical comedy team called The Chaser. This rather quirky show is broadcast on the second ABC network. I'm not sure of its audience and reach although it is buried late at night or up against prime time game shows or news.
I would be interested in any comments you might have about the show. Below is the link

(17,064 posts)They are fearmongerers. They are liars. They are hypocrites. They claim God has spoken to them.
Their followers (refered to as the Republican base) are ignorant, gullible, fearful, racist, and religious fundamentalists. They have lived their entire life being told what to do, how to think, and not to question. So they are sheep ripe for fleecing.
Now this might be a problem, except for a few things. Firstly, theres just not that many of them. Oh, they are loud, but really only about 10 or 15% of the population. Secondly, usually middle of the road voters wont vote for a batshit crazy candidate. Lastly, if by chance they do get elected they prove so inept at governing they get voted out next election. After all, they have no intent of demonstrating good government at work, their intent is to use government to impose a narrow RW theology on everyone else. Sort of like the Taliban. In fact, we call them the talibornagain.
