Overdosing on Bill Maher tonight is not likely, but possible.First, at 9 pm, he is on with Rachel Maddow, and then, his show starts at 10pm (repeats at 11) on HBO EST, there are his guests Kim Campbell the former Prime Minister of Canada, Tavis Smiley, Eric Kleinenberg, David Stockman, and Matthew Continetti.
Enjoy!

(5,744 posts)I'll certainly be watching his show, like I do every week, and thanks for letting me know he was on Rachel, I'll be watching that as well. But the relevancy of the post escapes me.

(22,380 posts)and that Real Time is on.
For myself it's relevant in that I get to see his show, kick back and unwind, I almost forgot about it today.
I've posted these reminders over time and get "thank you's" as a rule.
I'll look for the relevancy of your posts and assess them ASAP in the future.

(5,744 posts)There are some women on DU who have a problem with Bill Maher over imaginary and non-existant misogyny, so I thought your post may have something to do with that. I apologize.
Mira
(22,380 posts)I understand now.
I was awkward in my wording - I chose these words to call attention to the fact Bill was on with Rachel as well as having a new show tonight.

(5,744 posts)Bill wasn't in it very much, but it was interesting nonetheless. Rachel Maddow totally destroyed Ronald Reagan and (his role in) the Iran-Contra scandal. I've never seen any mainstream media personality paying attention to how utterly unethical, unlawful and worthy of impeachment that really was. It's high time the cult of personality surrounding Reagan gets demolished and Rachel did her part to help.

(23,664 posts)But I can only watch his own show about half the time. He lets his right wing guests take the show over and never does anything to shut 'em up.
He's better when he doesn't have to be in charge.

(23,664 posts)Or that asshat Stephen Moore from the club for growth or WTF it's called.
Or douchebag congressman Darrell Issa.
Sure he makes a lot of snarky remarks about republicans but he is not very good at controlling his panel. Democrats don't take advantage of his wimpiness. Republicans often do.

(5,744 posts)But if you hate him that much, why bother watching? You seem to make up your own non-existant version of the show already, going by your posts, so you clearly don't need to watch the actual show.

(23,664 posts)It's a TV show for chrissakes and if I were gonna "hate" a TV show it sure as hell wouldn't be this one. And I certainly don't hate Maher personally, I don't even know him.
All I said was IMO Maher is somewhat less than forceful in controlling the right wing guests that appear on his panel. But I do thank you for your suggestion that I avoid watching the show if I don't like it. I never would have thought of that myself.
DutchLiberal
(5,744 posts)Granted, that was not too hard because he was nothing but hot air.

(30,540 posts)*IF* he comes on now it won't be for a long interview.
OK he's on now at 6:54 PM but it's just a taste.
Rachel and Bill discussed Raygun and Iran/Contra. Wish it had been a longer segment.
