1. I battled Carl Sagan, and lived!

Back in college, Prof. Sagan lived next door to my fraternity. There happened to be a 180'-deep gorge between our doors, however. Here's the view of what's left of his house from the fraternity backyard:



Carl used to keep a Mobil Gas pegasus in his backyard, one of these:



It's a long story, but the short of it is that Carl started a feud with us, and we began using the Pegasus for target practice. Our weapon of choice was a funnelator, a three-man slingshot capable of launching water balloons, tuna bombs, and other delights with great accuracy at speeds approaching 100 mph.

He didn't fight back.
