Rand Paul: What If The 3K Troops Obama Sent To Africa All Catch Ebola?

By CATHERINE THOMPSON Published OCTOBER 2, 2014, 8:01 AM EDT

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) on Wednesday questioned President Obama's decision to dispatch 3,000 U.S. troops to West Africa to help combat the Ebola virus.

"Where is disease most transmittable? When you're in a very close confines on a ship," Paul said on Laura Ingraham's radio show. "We all know about cruises and how they get these diarrhea viruses that are transmitted very easily and the whole ship gets sick. Can you imagine if a whole ship full of our soldiers catch Ebola?"

"It's a big mistake to downplay and act as if 'oh, this is not a big deal, we can control all this.'" he added. "This could get beyond our control."

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention confirmed Tuesday that a patient in Texas had been diagnosed with the country's first case of Ebola.

Does he mean maybe the troops will catch Ebola on the ship and ..take it TO West Africa?

In other news, Al Franken was accused of being responsible for everything bad.

Never mind the logic fail by thinking they can die from Ebola on a ship going TO Ebola land.

When was the last time we sent troops on a ship?
Don't we fly them into places now??
We have thousands of military IN Africa already, aren't those the ones that are going to Ebola land?

Some say that's where Ebola came from in the first place. Now I'm not a scientist but...

go spouting off about it.

Trust me, the US military is very well-equipped to deal with such a contingency. So well-equipped in fact that the chance of such a thing happening is almost nil.

A warship is not a fucking cruise dumbass. Sailors train routinely in what is called NBC (Nuclear, Biological & Chemical) warfare. Paul and his fellow right-wing chicken-hawks should learn a little bit about how the Navy works before they say stupid shit.

12. how is taking action "downplay and act as if 'oh, this is not a big deal"

Isn't the reason we are sending people there is because we aren't down playing this and we truly think that this could get beyond our control. Isn't doing nothing pretty much the surest way for it to get beyond our control. Obama he's wrong when he takes action, he's wrong when he takes action.Meanwhile I honestly don't know where Rand Paul stands on any fucking issue. I always assume he's on both sides. He wants to control this, but not not take control of this, its a big deal, but not such a big deal that he'd send people to help.

Do our troops really need a senator to remind them they might die when sent into a hostile zone?

14. Right, Rand Paul.. President Obama is downplaying Ebola by sending troops to West Africa..

to help combat it. I think Obama is dealing with reality and ol Randy is using politics to score what an ignorant pos he is.. this time on the laura ingram show

"Paul, who is an ophthalmologist, said he thought U.S. officials were underestimating the transmissibility of the deadly virus. He said he also thought officials were downplaying the threat of the virus spreading to America in order to be politically correct."

Thanks Don
