Liberian authorities say they plan to prosecute the man infected with Ebola who brought the disease to the United States, saying he lied on his airport health questionnaire.

With an Ebola crisis raging in West Africa, passengers leaving Liberia are being screened for fever and are asked if they have had contact with anyone infected.

On the questionnaire obtained by The Associated Press, Thomas Eric Duncan answered 'no' to those questions.

Neighbors say Duncan had helped a sick pregnant woman who later died of the disease. Her illness at the time was believed to be pregnancy-related.

Binyah Kesselly, chairman of the board of directors of the Liberia Airport Authority, told reporters Thursday that Duncan will be prosecuted when he returns to Liberia.

Doesn't this sentence pretty much exonerate him too? "Her illness at the time was believed to be pregnancy-related." If that was the understanding what, exactly, do they think he should have answered?

isn't in the cards. Because I just don't understand it. Had we imposed one when Liberia lost control of its ability to deal with the disease, this guy wouldn't have potentially infected people in Dallas.

should stop accepting travelers from countries with uncontrolled outbreaks, unless it's absolutely necessary travel: pre-approved, well-screened and controlled. This is political correctness run amok, and it's going to kill people unnecessarily.

nationals living here...most are really well off financially. They attend the best schools and live in some of the most posh neighborhoods..rural and suburbs. They own lots of property and run many home-health assistance operations. They know full well that an incident like this will severely cut into their economic ventures and limit the number of Liberians who can travel to and from here. I know several ... really nice people but strongly business oriented, which we normally would call a desired trait. All bets are off now as this incident will make many of them more suspect than those who look like they MAY be Muslim or Arabic. I hope and pray for the best for them here and for their country.

If he believed that the illness was pregnancy related, as implied by the article, then he didn't know that he had had contact with an infected person.

I wonder what the exact question is.

The Ebola ward at the hospital was full so the put her back into a taxi and brought her home where she died later that night.

On edit:

Mr. Duncan, the first person to develop symptoms outside Africa during the current epidemic, had direct contact with a woman stricken by Ebola on Sept. 15, just four days before he left Liberia for the United States, the woman’s parents and Mr. Duncan’s neighbors said.

In a pattern often seen here in Monrovia, the Liberian capital, the family of the woman, Marthalene Williams, 19, took her by taxi to a hospital with Mr. Duncan’s help on Sept. 15 after failing to get an ambulance, said her parents, Emmanuel and Amie Williams. She was convulsing and seven months pregnant, they said.

Turned away from a hospital for lack of space in its Ebola treatment ward, the family said it took Ms. Williams back home in the evening, and that she died hours later, around 3 a.m.

He's 42, and was wearing an orange shirt. The family is clearly lower income, if not poverty level; live in an apartment. I am not so sure he knew the pregnant woman he helped had Ebola, and that he may have it too. Ignorance is rampant among the population in the hot zones.
