Ebola patient (Pham) upgraded to 'good condition', friends hold vigil

TCU students gathered for a vigil Tuesday just after receiving word the Dallas nurse who contracted Ebola has been upgraded to "good" condition.

While the community showed its support at her alma mater, Pham remained in isolation inside Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital. But she's improving after receiving a blood transfusion from Ebola survivor Dr. Ken Brantley.

"Nina's actually in good spirits," said Jennifer Joseph, Pham's friend. "She's doing well."

For the first time since she started showing symptoms, Pham released a statement.

"I'm doing well and want to thank everyone for their kind wishes and prayers," she writes. "I am blessed by the support of family, friends and am blessed to be cared for by the best team of doctors and nurses in the world here at Texas Health Presbyterian."

"She's touched and affected so many people with her personality and her care as a nurse," said Joseph.

Great news. Hopefully a full recovery is underway.

Not sure if Ebola is like chicken pox or the flu, where once you get it, then you are immune to getting it again.

If so, she may be in high demand.
