The republicans are quickly ramping up the request for a travel ban as a political

football that they hope will smear the President. Marco Rubio is in Florida making public speeches about it, playing to his base, and scaring anyone who will listen to him about Ebola.

If we don't, we're going to scuttle any credibilty we have as 'the party that can protect America'.

We took that from the Repukes, I can't see us giving them that issue back.

There are already no direct flights to the US from any of the three countries involved.

As would banning anyone that has been to a West African country within the past 30 days.

You do realize people keep track of that kind of thing all the time, don't you?

Should we do that with all contagious diseases or just this one? Seems a bit extreme to me.

Also, I misunderstood your post. I thought you meant banning people from traveling out of those countries.

Mr. Duncan have been here months ago if his visa had not been held up. Doesn't matter how many countries you go through - if you hold a Liberian passport, you need a visa to come here.

Quarantines work whether it's one patient, one family, one village, or one nation. It sucks to talk about it, but this is how you stop the spread of disease.

Meanwhile, we need a worldwide effort and a much bigger budget to take care of the patients in western Africa. The news from there is just awful.

... from Ebola, then yes, we should ban them. Since French and German citizens aren't scrambling for US healthcare, I don't see that being an issue.

Until then, ban anyone from a West African country and anyone that has been to one in the last 30 days. Simple enough.

Hell, a poll revealed that over half the country thinks Ebola is airborne.

When Hama's was firing a few rockets. I don't think there was much danger there, and the danger was limited to people who chose to fly there.

With Ebola there has already been millions spent on Duncan and others, plus the panic. The danger to our economy is certainly higher and than the Isreal situation was.
