Christie's Nimbyism about Ebola Treatment

http://www.nj.com/healthfit/index.ssf/2014/10/mandatory_ebola_drills_sought_by_health-care_union.html

I can't decide if this is xenophobic, racist nimbyism or what. Part of me agrees with the idea, since it's plain as the nose on my face that many hospitals and nurses are simply not up to the task of caring properly for Ebola patients without endangering themselves, by their own admission. But ONE hospital in the whole country for them???? Does he expect NIH, Nebraska, and Emory to just up and close their Biocontainment Patient Care Units designed specifically for just this sort of thing???

What an asshat. He's really got shit for brains. I don't know why I didn't realize he was THIS bad until now.

In the meantime, the HPAE union chief-of-staff, Jeanne Otersen, said her group wants to have a seat at the table when the state is issuing protocols for handling Ebola so there is consistency from hospital to hospital.

“That’s not in fact what’s happening everywhere. For example, everyone has a different view of what it means to be protected, about what constitutes adequate personal protective equipment,” she said. “We see some hospitals say that it’s gloves and a face mask. We don’t agree.”

She waved off the governor’s criticism, saying the state’s approach to handling Ebola was a complicated topic. “This is not a case where he can say, ‘Get off the beach,” and that’s the solution,” she said, citing Christie’s famous admonition to beachgoers awaiting Hurricane Irene.

Although relatively few travelers arrive in the United States from the three West African nations wracked by the epidemic – roughly 150 a day – New Jersey does have the fifth-highest number of residents of West African origin.

One - I had no idea about our West African population being that large.

Two - Brava Ms. Oterson! Glad someone is using their critical thinking skills and trying to look at a standard consistent protocol that allows people to protect themselves while they treat others.
