School teacher in Strong put on 21-day leave over Ebola fears (Maine)

http://bangordailynews.com/2014/10/17/news/lewiston-auburn/school-teacher-in-strong-put-on-21-day-leave-over-ebola-fears/

PHILLIPS, Maine — A teacher at Strong Elementary School has been required to take a 21-day leave of absence because parents were concerned the teacher could have been exposed to the Ebola virus during a recent trip to Dallas, according to a report in the Sun Journal.

A notice on the school’s website states that administrators placed the teacher on paid leave of absence out of an abundance of caution.

“We have no information to suggest that this staff member has been in contact with anyone who has been exposed to Ebola,” the notice states.

If that’s the case, placing the teacher on leave amounts to a “tremendous overreaction,” said Dr. Robert Pinsky, hospital epidemiologist at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.

intelligent, common-sense leaders who will not be swayed by politics or the comments of the ignorant. The true leader will explain to the ignorant why certain steps are being taken and then take those steps, refuting the ignorance directly and forcefully.

We don't have many of those people around any more. . .

Stated Loud enough to hear-

"I'm From Dallas, EBOLA! EBOLA! Can I jump ahead!"

Most everyone laughed except one guy who was from the UK, had a really nervous look on his face

It reminds me of this conversation:

Him: "So, where do you live?"
Me: "In Southern California."
wait for it...
Him: "I have a friend who moved to San Diego. Bill Johnson. Maybe you know him?"

This kind of overreaction demonstrates how ignorant these school administrators are. They should all be fired for being too stupid to administer anything.

I live in Ontario and was visiting a person in NJ and she said her daughter lived in Alberta,, and have I bumped into her yet?

It is crazy but true. but there are plenty of people in Canada I know who are just as ill informed. People like those in DU are informed and read and know how to sort the lies/crazy misinformation from the truth. Otherwise I would have left DU long ago.

Three weeks of paid leave is something that a lot of teachers would love to have.

Overreaction? Sure. But still, I doubt the teacher has issues with that because hey - paid leave, that's always nice.
