So voters are anxious and fearful. They feel like the world is out of control.

Says Politico. Hmmmmm? What would mitigate that? Oh yeah a government that wasn't sabotaged at every turn by the right. A government allowed to be seen governing. To all the republican voters out there. Enjoy your sense of unease. You deserve it! It is what you have voted for.

Both parties are to blame for our struggles. Sure, they throw us a bone once in awhile but, for the most part, our current Congressmen/women have been subpar. I think most do not deserve reelection.

.... work for the monied interests that pay for their campaigns. Anyone that thinks Dems are any better than Reps in this regard is a fool.

Time to grow up, to wake up and smell the coffee. Nothing is going to change any time soon, if ever.

from the day of Obama's first inarguration. They did it to foreign policy when they were trying to win the 2012 election and Benghazi happened. They've stolen the narrative. And sabotaged anything good (Iran interested in talks) and blamed Obama for events around the world.

I don't believe Obama ever intended to include one, but if he did, obviously some of the "dems" obstructed as well.

campaign Obama promised a public option, end of torture, end of war, reform of the security state, support for organized labor, end of fracking and offshore drilling, renegotiation of NAFTA (presumably not into TPP)...you know, change.

If you think that all of these failures a) can be blamed on Lieberman, and/or 2) do not have any effect at all on the Dem brand and thus voter turnout, you need to stop drinking the Kool-Aid. hispanics are unhappy because president is balking on immigration reform. Is that Lieberman's fault too? Obama's 6 years in office have done a lot of harm to the party. The main reason IMO is that he and Pelosi and Reid get their money from the same criminals and tyrants as the Repukes.

Your post and my response was on the public option.....Lieberman blocked it and you moving on to other subjects changes nothing on that issue, although there were others also involved in the blocking.

Definitely can't ask for/demand some kind of security life. I think that it is our Puritan heritage that keeps most people afraid and guilty of being happy/content and keeps everybody demanding that they be punished for their perceived sins and shortcomings. Republicans are more than happy to make sure most of us suffer through endless fear and anxiety. Who knows what horrible things would happen if too many people were happy/secure/content with our lives.

Present company excluded-- I am not referring to DU readers!

We're inundated and we're getting news we were probably not getting 20 years ago. It's really true that the public can't handle the truth, and we were probably protected from it in the past.

People as a group aren't strong/stable/healthy/smart enough for all of the information they're getting. Thus, the "low-information voter."

It's putting people off politics and voting, not motivating them. There was always sickness ,war, and economic hardship. We're just getting it delivered into the palms of our hands 24/7 from the entire world.

We americans didn't use to know where afghanistan was, let alone their religion or economics.

I'm not suggesting we hide the truth from anyone. I'm just saying it might explain why the GOP is doing as well as it is.

Please do not answer with defensive insults: I'm talking about those who are afraid and disillusioned, not those of us who follow the news and vote dem.
