Stacey Addison, former Portland vet, detained backpacking in Timor-Leste

You can hear the fear and worry in Bernadette Kero's quiet voice.

Her daughter, Stacey Addison, a former Portland veterinarian, is in prison without charges in Timor-Leste, stuck in the young Southeast Asian country's fledgling judicial system.

Addison's case has drawn attention from the U.S. State Department, Sens. Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkley, as well as José Ramos-Horta, Timor-Leste's Nobel Peace Prize-winning former president.

Kero, a Klamath Falls resident, just wants her daughter to be released and come back to Oregon.
