Of course we are voting Democrat but patting yourself on the back for it is fools gold. Our cabinet level leadership has failed us as they have been co-opted by the corporations and military/industrial/surveillance/massincarceration complex. They have completely let us down and don't even try to pretend they tried anymore. The center has been moved to the right by the likes of the Clintons and their student, Obama. Thats the reason we have the looney tunes whackadoodles on the far Right now taking over the Republican party. These people feel a need to differentiate themselves culturally from those on the left and when the left acts like centrist Republicans they must move further right. These last few years have been a time out from the evil Bush regime just like Bush Sr.'s admitted buddy Bill Clinton served that very purpose in the 90s. Expect them trying to insert Jeb Bush in 2016 and Hillary is just the alternate bench player picked by Wall St and the Military contractors if they fail. Thats our big prize...and with it come polarizing opposition to counter the illusion that she is a leftist which comes in the form of more Republican House and Senate seats. We need fighters who tell the truth like Elizabeth Warren or Alan Grayson. Otherwise we are just the dog chasing its own tail. Lets hope we figure it out before its too late. A continuing Bush monarchy would come with some existential events Im sure as they have been scheming for 5 decades and longer. The Clintons are their close friends and as far as Im concerned not much different than Vichey style politics.

And too many in our party are soft and don't want to confront the harsher realities. Prepare for Hope to be finally extinguished with a dynastic Bush vs Clinton election in 2016 from the bedfellow buddied best of friends who always scratch each others back. Im so glad I live in the bluest of states where we stand up against the monolithic power sharing corrupt government we have. My Senators are not afraid to speak out.

How dare you float that tired 'both parties are the same' trash. It can't dampen my hope because all I need to protect it is to remember there are others who recognize we're ultimately all in the same boat. This OP has done that well.

Deep Blue. I actually see this (soul searching on our side) as a referendum on centrists. That way doesn't work. Progressives should be given the reigns now and show how you get the job done. Any haters who still cling to playing footsie with the Rethuglicans should think long and hard. The same people who said a Black man couldn't win in 2008 are parroting that tired line of "we need to not offend the enemy and maybe they will be nicer to us." A ham sandwich could've won in 2008 people hated Bush so much. Time to break free of the inmate kissing up to the guards and warden mentality. Let go of sell outs like the Clinton's who like a rigged game for personal benefit. Support Progressives like Elizabeth Warren. I saw Alan Grayson won in Florida. I don't know his district dynamics but it's still Florida. The Republicans will of course shoot themselves in the foot in the next two years and we shouldn't waste that window voting for Clinton because frankly people are over this crap. No one will want her then. Polls are meaningless now

I think there are great politicians all over our party. I'm talking about the Executive Level that supports war crimes, targeting Americans domestically for spying and the Drug War etc. How dare you ignore millions of good liberal Americans targeted by these sell outs at the top. 2 million in jail genius. Do the math. And most fir victimless crimes. Maybe you need to walk in their shoes to understand because it's obvious that in your pipe dream lofty cloud of denial you don't.

I see lots of great candidates. We have two of the best here with Wyden and Merkley. But the Clintons and Obama and all the Joe Lieberman types have sold us out. We shouldn't tolerate opportunists or even fools.

"I feel bad for the people Democrats are supposed to represent, not the Democratic candidates. They remind me of the Iraqi Army - running when they should fight."
- Bill Maher

You are right about cowards but I'm sorry Obama is the biggest one. He's always capitulating to corporations and republicans. It's gotten so bad I thought he wasn't a spineless coward but actually one of them. The worst is his defense of NSA, the Drug War racket and torture... Even worse than putting all lobbyists in regulatory positions and secrecy.

I don't mean to come across harsh and judgemental but after all we the chances we have blown and my commitment to peace and justice I feel I have a right to be pissed. Obama stalling the editing of the Torture Report until Repubs take control of the Senate is the kind of thing that makes one cynical. Maybe the 1% in our own party is just too out if touch with reality as they clamor and gnaw to be part of the .01% and even .001%.

I wish more people would open their third eye to the reality of your name-sake's truth...

"The world is like a ride at an amusement park. And when you choose to go on it, you think that it's real because that's how powerful our minds are. And the ride goes up and down and round and round. It has thrills and chills, and it's very brightly colored, and it's very loud and it's fun, for a while. Some people have been on the ride for a long time, and they begin to question - is this real, or is this just a ride? And other people have remembered, and they come back to us. They say 'Hey! Don't worry, don't be afraid, ever, because, this is just a ride.' And we...kill those people. Ha ha ha. 'Shut him up! We have a lot invested in this ride. SHUT HIM UP! Look at my furrows of worry. Look at my big bank account and family. This just has to be real.' It's just a ride. But we always kill those good guys who try and tell us that, you ever notice that? And let the demons run amok. But it doesn't matter because: it's just a ride. And we can change it anytime we want. It's only a choice. No effort, no work, no job, no savings, and money. A choice, right now, between fear and love. The eyes of fear want you to put bigger locks on your doors, buy guns, close yourselves off. The eyes of love, instead, see all of us as one. Here's what you can do to change the world, right now, to a better ride. Take all that money that we spend on weapons and defense each year, and instead spend it feeding, clothing and educating the poor of the world, which it would many times over, not one human being excluded, and we could explore space, together, both inner and outer, for ever, in peace." -- Bill Hicks

Despite any attempts at voter suppression, those millions took their stand. Even if TX doesn't go blue in 2014, it may go blue in 2016. The people that stick their necks out, literally, to run for office in many areas need to know that voters are still believing in what they are doing. If not, they won't run. And the vacuum will be filled with baggers.

They usually are on the ballot in order to be retained for their appointed seat on the court.
As such, they usually don't really campaign very much.
But, like he said, you can tell by the endorsements which judges are preferred by the Republicans.

The ballot question usually goes like this:
Should Judge Joe Brown be retained as 4th District Judge?
And the only responses available are "yes" or "no".

A lot of Libertarians and Independents in Idaho are also upset about it.
There are a lot of people who live here that identify themselves as members of the Libertarian party.
The Governor, who says he is a bona fide Republican nowadays, used to say about himself that he was as much of a Libertarian as a Republican.
That was his subtle way of appealing to the white supremacists that live in Northern Idaho.
He doesn't say that anymore, though.

Last week in the final public debate, both the Independent and the Democratic party candidates were allowed to attend that debate with the Republican Governor.
Back in the early months of the summer, just a few months ago, Governor Otter only agreed to attend one debate, and that one was the only one he would agree to attend to have with the Democratic challenger.
But, there was an Independent candidate who announced late in the season that he was also running for Governor.

So, after the media called the Governor out on it, he gave in and agreed to debate both of them because they are both legally on the ballot this year.
And since Otter insisted -- insisted -- that Harley Brown, the crazy biker dude be allowed to attend the Republican's primary debate, in which he turned it into a 3-ring circus, the media started accusing Otter of being two-faced about not having to debate all of the people who were running for Governor.
So, he finally caved in.

Big mistake.

Otter blew the debate, especially after he said that his involvement with the private prison management company scandal had been handled correctly.
The Independent candidate for Governor, Bujak -- who used to be a Republican -- said that wasn't the problem, it was the fact that the Governor settled with the company out of court even before the investigation was complete.

The Governor responded by claiming that he could always go back and ask for more money in the settlement once the FBI was done investigating the situation.
But, Bujak, the Independent candidate fired back and said that wasn't true at all, and that the Governor knew that, that once the state had settled with the company out of court, they couldn't go back and ask them for any more money.

Governor Otter was so upset that he walked away from his podium, and got in Bujak's face, the Independent candidate's face, and he bleated that he could always go back and ask for more money.
But, Bujak held his ground and said, no, he couldn't.
It was an amazing moment in political debates to witness because it was obvious that Otter had lost his cool, so he was then going to try to intimidate Bujak --- which is what Governor Otter's critic's have said about Otter his whole political career, that he is a bully.

Bujak said that Otter let them off the hook with a paltry settlement, just like the Democratic candidate had said the Governor did.
Finally, after a few tense moments, Governor Otter had to turn around and return to his podium in order to let the debate continue.
The moderator had almost lost control of the debate at that point.

Bujak, the Independent candidate, wasn't initially going to run for Governor this year.
He had no intention of running for that office 2 years ago.
But, late in 2013, Governor Otter's office ordered an investigation in to Bujak's conduct as the Canyon County prosecutor.
That pissed Bujak off.
So, Bujak resigned from his office in order to defend himself.
He won his case in court against all of the state's charges, but it ruined him financially, so he had to declare bankruptcy.

Only after Bujak had successfully defended himself, did he decide to run for Governor.
He could be the spoiler in this year's race.
If he pulls about 10% of the total vote around the state, he will spilt the vote 3 ways, and the Democratic candidate will win the election.

Let's face it, if a white Republican president were presiding over these economic numbers -- Gasoline is less than $3 a gallon, unemployment is under 6%, and the Stock Market is breaking records -- the media and the GOP would be proclaiming "America Is Back!" and "It's Morning in America Again!"

We would have been bombarded with ad after ad after ad touting the GREAT RECOVERY!

Take the above video, use the same soothing music, and think of the new narration for TODAY's Morning In America: "DOW over 17,000; unemployment dropping from 10.1 to 5.9; 55 straight months of job growth, longest in history; gas under 3 dollars; Bin Laden killed, etc. So let's not stop now. Vote Republican! Keep us moving forward!"
