Ok, I'll come clean, today I voted against a democratic candidate

for Milwaukee Co. Sheriff.

I did that because David A Clarke jr is positioned to the right of Wayne LaPierre,

On television and in print he told Milwaukee Co residents that Milwaukee Co couldn't keep them safe and that they should all go buy guns and join him in defense of Milwaukee Co.

No promise to serve and protect lost me. Calling for vigilantes lost me completely.

When questioned about the role of guns and home protection Clarke told his television interviewer that he'd call 911 to come clean up the mess on his floor because the intruder would be there bleeding out.

Really, I would have voted for a bucket of dirt before I voted for Clarke, but I cast a ballot for a self proclaimed "Free Range Socialist" running under the Bernie Sanders for President party. Angela Walker

Or is this person running against somebody who has a bizarre platform against guns, such that he needs to make such a statement?

Wisconsin is actually an open carry state. You can carry a gun pretty much anywhere except out of its case in your vehicle during hunting season...

That guy sounds dangerous, there are some people that belong nowhere near public office no matter what party they run under.

The best parts of Milwaukee, now under attack from the right, schools, parks, public hospitals were largely due to strong presence of social democrats.

We usually don't have to make choices like that. On this ballot, I was looking up two democrats to see which one was more progressive.

This post is a good reminder that not every candidate with a D after there name actually represents their party, and we shouldn't judge the kind of choice you had to make

my answer is David Clarke runs in our primaries. And he WINS.

That's because of the open primary voting system. The R's can't win in Milw Co. so they game the vote.

FCUK Cuomo. I love his dad, but he's a huge disappointment. If he'd at least taken a stand on fracking I'd have considered voting for him again but I couldn't do it again and sleep tonight.

In Ohio our democratic candidate for governor has no chance, so I symbolically voted for the Green/Socialist candidate as well - the only one I could really find of my ballot, sadly.

In some places once a group gets a threshold support they don't need petitions to get a candidate on a ballot.
