As usual, the Ohio Dems slated a weak field of candidates. It's unclear that there was a weaker candidate available. Had there been, I'm sure the Ohio Dems would have gone that route.

The Democratic Party here is pathetic. I have been seeing the State slip away from the Democrats for years. It's a miracle Obama won here the past two presidential elections.

Considering Obama won in Ohio in 2008 and 2012, Ohio could turn purple or even blue with a good state Democratic party.

Rove used the old Gary Hart dirty trick of scandalizing a first class Democratic candidate by getting the press to focus on mundane human foibles that harm no one. That combined with getting the press to go along with the idea that, perhaps the brightest straight arrow candidate in the land need not be debated because he is so incorruptible that no special interest groups would fund him.

Ed Fitzgerald and Sharon Neuhardt were accurately described tonight by Ohio Senator Tracy Heard as two of the finest candidates running.
