Why do you think people keep voting for these republicans? I don't it is just messaging.

(1,665 posts)But some progressive issues are winners even in red states.
Does anyone have a list of where increase-the-minimum wage ballot initiatives won? Oh, they won everywhere? Even in those red states? Oh my.
So, yes, running as a "progressive" or "liberal" might not hep in a red state. But running as a guy who supports raising the minimum wage (for example) would help.

This DLC "I'm a moderate who is going to give your money to Wall Street" bull is partly why Democrats are losing. The other part is all of the money being spent by billionaires to protect and increase their incomes.
money is needed to win with all the PAC money

(16,350 posts)Yes, I think a populist message would have won out. I think people who encourage DINOs do the party no favors. This is what some of us have been warning about for some time. "Be a realist," we were told. And so now look where we are. We are even losing our edge among youth and Hispanic voters. Time for some real soul-searching and truth-telling.

(39,961 posts)All I know is that the current strategy of endlessly chasing respectability on right-wing issues like a balanced budget, crime-free finance, "free-market" solutions, and "entitlement reform" don't work. Either you can't win enough seats to govern or you can't win. Either way, it's a losing proposition.

(153 posts)The Majority will vote the democratic way most every time but when asked who they will vote for they say republican. I believe it is more complex than that.
