...with all due respect to the poster who thinks otherwise.
I do think, whether they meant to or not, the American people just rewarded government shutdown as a strategy.
I also think there will not be an impeachment. There will be bluster and threats - maybe even hearings, but at the end of the day, Barack Obama is a lame duck President from this morning to January 2017.
Whether we like the fact or not, a win of this magnitude will be interpreted by conservatives as a mandate.
My expectations for the next six months:
Immediate future: I'd expect a cabinet shakeup - maybe to begin as soon as Friday. Several will want to start making career plans for 2016 and beyond. Others may be moved around or asked to resign for political reasons. I'd predict Vilsack and Duncan are first gone.
What I do expect from the GOP::
I suspect their first order of business will be to pass a budget that defunds the ACA, as well as the Departments of Education, EPA, and the Postal Service. Also look for defunding of National Endowment for the Arts, Public Broadcasting, and Planned Parenthood.
They will use the nuclear option , if need be, to pass it. It will be vetoed. They will then refuse to fund government until their demands are met. Then it becomes a game of who blinks first.
There will be a Senate committee on Benghazi. This will be more about Hillary Clinton than the President.
Look for Netanyahu to be asked to speak before a joint session so he can blast the Administration. Look for the GOP to accuse the Dems of being wishy-washy on support for Israel.
JMHO. CNN thinks they'll be more moderate.
