(149,620 posts)That's really disgusting for sure.

(3,182 posts)people pretending to be Democrats and not supporting a single Democratic principle.
Mary Landrieu and Kay Hagan, too.
You know you're headed for defeat when supposed Democratic candidates refuse to admit they voted for the President for their own party. Allison Grimes DESERVED to lose for that alone.
CONTROL of houses of congress is VERY valuable, whether we like all of the members or not. This is a damaging attitude of too many Democrats.
Glitterati
(3,182 posts)Seeing as how they sent Priyor's ass home from DC tonight, along with Hagen and Landrieu.

(15,369 posts)But if there is any silver lining at all, it is that the ideas of spineless Dems may become a thing of the past. Even though - especially in this election - voting for any Dem over any GOPer should have been a no-brainer.
I, for one, am supporting Howard Dean's Democracy for America rather than the DNC, the DSCC or the DCCC from now on as well as individual candidates. http://www.democracyforamerica.com/ Even though the national organizations worked very hard for some Dem candidates in so-called "critical" states (and I thank them for it), they did not work hard enough in areas where good Dems - with even a little bit of national support and encouragement - could have won. They much too often follow the so-called "conventional wisdom."
If Howard Dean once again accepts the position of DNC Chair and the national organizations actually listen to him, then I might reconsider. Even if a former Dean Dozen candidate who would follow the Dean vision moved into that position ... but only then.

(1,638 posts)There's no reason to wait for the DNC - there's an organization trying to implement the strategy right now, and you can support them (and the progressive candidates they back) directly.
And if you're really interested in having progressives take back the party, you need to be a member. Another great thing the DFA does is come to support of progressives and liberals in Democrat vs. Democrat races (got an e-mail from them raising support for Mike Honda against Ro Khanna, for example).

(43,867 posts)Here's Pryor's voting record with the President.
(Source: CQ Roll Call and Politifact)
While Republican senators attempted to block Obama at every turn, you're going to persist in your fantasy that losing Pryor and others is a good thing and that states like Arkansas is just waiting for a candidate to spread more magic progressive pixie dust.
I'm sure it's very blissful where you are.
Glitterati
(3,182 posts)Perdue kicked her butt from North Fulton all over the state.
That magic third way, Zell Miller style Democrat has cost us the senate way too many times. And the Presidency, and Congress, and all the rest.
One day, we'll all learn that a "conservative Democrat" is nothing more than a wolf in sheep's clothing. The voters sure figured that out this last election. One day you third wayers will, too. Unless, of course, that's your actual goal - electing more republicans. Cause you sure achieved it last night.
I'll never forgive Mark Pryor for tossing those 20 dead babies out like trash so the NRA wouldn't campaign against him. Sure did him a lot of good, now, didn't it?
wyldwolf
(43,867 posts)In red states, we don't run further left candidates. But I'm sure you believe Bernie sanders - types would have won big in Georgia through magical pixie dust.
Glitterati
(3,182 posts)Honey, I'm in Georgia as well, and I KNOW BETTER.
Ever heard of John Lewis?
Yeah, I thought so.
Insanity is defined as doing the same thing over and expecting a different result.
wyldwolf
(43,867 posts)'Honey.'
Glitterati
(3,182 posts)Instead, you Third Way Dems gave Georgia away to the republicans.
Georgia was a state Democratically controlled for 125 years, until the Third Way Dems decided electing Republicans in Democratic clothing was the way to go.
Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.
wyldwolf
(43,867 posts)You can't, because one doesn't exist.
If there is really some secret 'progressive' majority in red states, why don't potential "progressive" candidates know about them? Might give them the guts to run.
You're been peddling this BS for years and years and it has never worked ONCE
Tell you what - I'll provide a list of Third Way Dems who've run and WON in red state elections STATE WIDE, not some safe urban district. You do the same with 'progressive' candidates.
Bet you can't.
You're been peddling this BS for years
Glitterati
(3,182 posts)THOSE third way Dems?
Yeah, love those. </sarcasm>
wyldwolf
(43,867 posts)Now, I have my list of third way Dems who have run in red states and won. Where is your list of 'progressives' who have run state wide races in red states and won?
Hint: You don't have one.
Glitterati
(3,182 posts)there's ONE. Come on, let's figure out how many more your Third Way Dems have destroyed.
wyldwolf
(43,867 posts)Glitterati
(3,182 posts)Yeah, he played along with your idiots just too keep his own party from trying to destroy him, but he was and is as progressive as the day is long.
He played along. Until the Third Way abandoned him for Saxby Chambliss.
You guys have an absolutely stunning record in Georgia. You've lost more elections than any other state.
Go Zig Zag Zell! I'm certain his endorsement of Michell Nunn was helpful after his endorsement of George Bush. </sarcasm>
Zell Miller is the epitome of Third Way Democrats.
wyldwolf
(43,867 posts)Hey, where's you list of State-wide 'progressive' red state winners?
Glitterati
(3,182 posts)so, I might suggest you not try to speak for him.
I'm done with you, just because like all Third Way Democrats, you're a waste of time and effort.
But, you just keep doing what you've been doing and eventually, there won't be a single Democratic office holder in DC. I'm certain John Barrow will agree. Another loser, thanks to the Third Way Dems.
You're just soooooooo effective in electing candidates - for the Republicans, that is. </sarcasm>

(46,436 posts)We probably won't know for a couple of weeks. There was a lot of absentee voting here and I don't believe the rural precincts are in yet where Mark has his strength. In 2008 he was down at this stage of the game, as well. We come to expect very close elections whenever Begich is involved. It's always been that way even when he was on the Anchorage assembly.

(2,679 posts)Not! Ok it was not pretty. It could have been worse. But in the end it really only means two years of hell before the rays of hope re-emerge. Wild animals do lash out before being caged. Think Nazis and their last stab at stalling the inevitable with the battle of the bulge. While they created a bulge in the allies line for a few weeks, it really only exhausted whatever resources they had left. The Nazis lost everything in the end if I remember correctly.
