Evangelicals Mobilize Voters, But GOP Candidates Less Vocally Supportive

this is from a few days ago but i noticed there was less religious talk from the republican candidates this time around. and i think this is another reason they could do well. people are less likely to see them as being crazy types without the religious talk so they don't scare voters as much into feeling they need to prevent this crazy person from getting into office.

people assume those who don't vote are upset with the choices when more likely they aren't upset enough to get out and vote.

the evangelicals still got out and supported the republicans but they might start to get upset if they don't see results . but it could actually help republicans to get away from them also since they are decreasing in numbers and can appeal to others.

<Republican candidates haven't been emphasizing their message to religious conservatives this year. But polls suggest evangelical Christians could be their most important block of voters come Election Day. David Greene talks to Pastor Bill Tvedt of the Jubilee Family Church in Oskaloosa, Iowa.>

Friendly, amiable guys, they were--as long as they had a tough guy beside them, riding shotgun, looking mean and not saying a word to anyone. The drivers could afford to be affable and welcoming, knowing full well that the guy riding shotgun would do what needed to be done to keep them (and the valuables they were transporting) safe.

A lot of evangelicals do what needs to be done among their congregations to take care of Republicans, so Republicans don't have to foam at the mouth in public.

This happens in a lot of relationships, business, romantic, political, good cop, bad cop, whatever. The sane side or the nice side gets to look that way because they can rely on the attack dog in the relationship to take care of whatever needs to be done that ain't so pretty.

I told this to a relative who told me that his friend had given his (my relative's) wife a job and told my relative how much he would love to pay her what she's really worth, but..........his partner just won't let him. My relative had taken his "friend" at his word. "Friend" trying to have it every which way and getting away with it because he had a partner with less need to be liked riding shotgun.

I told my relative to reply net time, "I understand completely, but there's an easy fix. Give her 50% of the raise you claim to think she's worth and let him take it out of your share of the profits. That way, you get the result you say you would love and she at least gets something resembling more closely what you say she's actually worth."

I doubt my relative did that, but he got it.
