I've been at work 10 minutes...

And the GOP gloating is already in full force.

One guy to another (not to me):

"They (the left) got their asses handed to them last night. My favorite quote from last night was 'liberalism met reality tonight.'"

other guy: "Yeah, no more handouts!"

I guess something I have always found rather interesting about supporters of the right is it does not seem like their view of political struggles in America is "liberals winning vs. conservatives winning". It is "liberals winning vs. liberals losing". They take joy in the left not getting its way and the fact that means voting for the GOP doesn't seem to matter to them. They don't want McConnel to win, they want the satisfaction of Grimes losing, or Crist losing, etc etc. It is the same schoolyard bully mentality they never grew out of.

could care less whether people get healthcare or how many wars are started, or how the country will be left behind in all areas.

Just do your job, and ignore the background noise, at least that is what I would do. This to shall pass.

Not on the playground or anywhere else on our campus. They get their asses handed to them if they do.

Middle school students can certainly be immature, impulsive, and un-thinking...brain development determines that. They don't have to be assholes, though.

They just need people who are present, paying attention, firm, and fair to hold them accountable.

Ignorant asshole adults, though...who holds them accountable?

we'll all be working, and most people won't be talking about the election. None will be on DU. We don't have that kind of time or luxury.

I predict that nobody will mention the Senate, gubernatorial, or House races; those were all as expected. There will be some side conversations in the break room about the pot measure, whether or not it passes. It's going to be close, but right now it's looking possible. I doubt anyone will mention the food labeling bill. It looks like that one is going to lose, but you never can tell; final results aren't in.

There are a few republicans. Not many.

I'm worried about my pediatric patients.

People think Governor Quinn was bad.
