Do you expect a cabinet shakeup?

I do for these reasons:

1) I suspect several will want to leave to start making plans for 2016 and beyond.

2) There is a short window of Democratic control in the lame duck Senate

3) There is a sudden supply of unemployed Governors and Senators who can fill cabinet positions

We already know Holder is gone. Vilsack may be asked to leave as Sec Ag -- both to start planning a campaign for Chuck Grassley's seat, and because if Iowa is going to go deep red, we can just as easily have a SecAg from Illinois (for example). Arne Duncan may also be told to make other plans -- it would please many Democrats who have disliked RTTT from the outset, and may also be seen as a concession to the rising tide of opposition to Common Core.

Some other positions I wonder about. Given recent press reports about memos he sent to the President, does the President stick with Chuck Hagel as SecDef, or does he look to bring in someong like Wes Clark. Does Susan Rice remain as National Security Advisor.

President Obama will be seriously engaged in policy for about another 9 months (+/-). After that, excepting serious military/foreign policy crisis, I suspect a lot of things will become "something my successor can worry about" while he plans for his post-Presidency and the 2016 election begins in full force.

The Chief of Staff is another position you'd expect replaced after a bloodbath of this magnitude.

and since it takes so long to approve new folks, who would want to sign on now?

All Obama can do now, is to try & clean up the mess in the Middle East (Isis)...stay focused on day to day stuff, and pray that 2 years goes by quickly..

What would be funny as hell (and would never happen)

Obama could make a speech saying that he's fed up with all the bullshit, and then just resigns..(and writes a tell-all best seller) Joe becomes president (he knows the senate, and would love a try-out)..and he makes Elizabeth Warren veep.. (just don;t let Coakley know

Imagine the republican heads exploding../

...so he'd have to move quickly.

I don't think he'll do that. As you say, he'll work to clean up in the Middle East and focus on day to day stuff.
