Chill Out, Liberals! The Republicans Took The Senate And That’s TERRIBLE-- for them

( this was on FB, thought I'd give it a try here)

What? Did you think this would be good news for Republicans? Not a chance!

You see, for the last 6 years, the only thing Republicans have had to do is say “No!” to anything and everything President Obama and the Democrats put forth. That’s easy when your base hates the president so much they would happily light themselves on fire if he said “Third degree burns are bad for you.”

This rage keeps the right wing voting for Republicans as long as Republicans tell them what they want to hear: Obama is a Kenyan Muslim socialist Commie Nazi that stole the elections, government is the problem and we’re here to stop Big Gub’mint blablabla…

But now Republicans have to do something they no longer know how to do: Lead.

Shooting spitballs from the back of the class at the smart kids doesn’t require much effort. Standing at the front of the class and solving problems requires both brains and discipline and the GOP is sorely lacking in both.

by the 60 vote Cloture rule. They were the party of no. We should be the party of "you are out of your fucking mind".

Is it possible to change the rules to a mere majority? If it is, I can't wait to hear the hand wringing about the Republicans taking power yet conveniently forgetting when the rule for judicial appointments was lowered to 50.
They should have never done that and now have there's precedence.

It's wishful thinking...this would be a concern if the Republican voters gave a shit, which they don't! Whatever happens after January will still get blamed on Obama...and will make sure that a black person is never elected into the White House anytime in the near future!

They don't have to lead, they still have a black man that they aren't quite finished lynching yet!!!!

just like people here still blame Bush for bad policies Obama has resigned and strengthened.

An uninformed public is the most dangerous thing to Democracy, and the public is not only uninformed, but actually mislead intentionally.

Cha. Thanks. I've been going up and down all day. Before I read that response from the retired Navy officer, I was feeling like I had just heard an E.L.E. sized asteroid was heading our way. Not so at this time. Maybe 2016 will prove we do have a backbone as a Party and individuals. Thanks again.

That's what is so chilling -- those creeps have more lackeys than ever ruling the roost, and all those trashy working class rednecks have totally drunk the Kool-Aid. So it seems pretty bad to me... It's kind of like we are stuck having to ride a bus with no driver. And no one gives a hoot...

And we help it out by throwing anyone who steps even a little over the "line" under the buss.
Thus making it imposable to have a coalition of populist.

Seems like a plan to me.

I am afraid it won't matter. They control the message and they control the media that delivers the message. We have demographics on our side going into 2016, but I don't know that we can overcome their control of how whatever events occur between now and then will be perceived.

war is good for big business,
distracts the people from everything else,
and gives them an excuse to impeach Obama
if he doesn't go along with them.

"Now things will get even worse, and we'll reap the benefits down the line."

I, for one, am not happy paying the price of "things getting worse." It takes too long to fix said things, and you don't get credit when you do (see Obama, Barack).

Unless and until Democrats learn how to be heard through the wingnuts' shrieking choruses of doom; unless and until Democrats learn to stand up to lies and hysteria rather than trying to finesse them; unless and until Democrats learn how to celebrate their principles rather than hide them from close inspection, we will continue to lose.

And if Republicans control the state legislatures in the redistricting period following the 2020 Census, the Democratic Party will never win a national election again . . . which, given baked-in losses in state and local elections, isn't that much of a prize anyway.
