http://www.thirdway.org/press/press-releases/third-way-statement-on-the-outcome-of-the-2014-electionsThe reasons for their losses were many. Chief among them was a feeling on the part of voters that Democrats were not offering solutions equal to the task of restoring function to a dysfunctional government, and driving economic growth and prosperity that would make their lives better or more secure.
While the results were disappointing, it was a night filled with resolve. At Third Way, we are determined to help find a path forward through the dysfunction and discord. The country can ill afford two more wasted years of gridlock, and we will be offering ideas that can work even in a time of divided government. We hope that the Senators-Elect are coming to Washington in the spirit of comity, cooperation, and progress that the majority of their voters so clearly are demanding.
So there you go. Democrats need to compromise harder in the next two years.

(16,374 posts)On the up side, us real Dems did succeed in exposing and exploding the DLC's myths, and they haven't been very successful at their latest rebranding effort aka Third Way.
We must always remember that the DLC and, I'm sure their successor organization, have been funded by the billionaires, banksters and global mega-corporations from their inception. The Koch boyos have been heavily involved from the start.

(45,251 posts)not much change from one administration to the next. So said Carroll Quigley.
Sadly, though (sarcasm as to sadly), there was a massive change from the Hoover Administration to the Roosevelt administration. You want to avoid that kind of thing at all costs. And heaven knows, the "financial markets" (aka the 1%) weren't looking for Republicans to be the same as Democrats. So, really, for healthy financial markets, there's only way to go.(more sarcasm)
A bit more about Quigley:
Influence on Bill Clinton
In his freshman year in the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown, future U.S. President Bill Clinton took Quigley's course, receiving a 'B' as his final grade in both semesters (an excellent grade in a course where nearly half the students received D or lower).[2]: 94, 96
Clinton named Quigley as an important influence on his aspirations and political philosophy in 1991, when launching his presidential campaign in a speech at Georgetown.[2]: 96 He also mentioned Quigley again during his acceptance speech to the 1992 Democratic National Convention, as follows:
As a teenager, I heard John Kennedy's summons to citizenship. And then, as a student at Georgetown, I heard that call clarified by a professor named Carroll Quigley, who said to us that America was the greatest Nation in history because our people had always believed in two thingsthat tomorrow can be better than today and that every one of us has a personal moral responsibility to make it so.[17]

Good luck with that. Everything EVERY SINGLE THING in that sentence is delusional.
Think Ernst, et al are coming in a spirit of comity? Did this Third Way writer listen to the victory speeches? Spears? Blood? Tyranny? And that's what the candidates campaigned on! Their voters were NOT demanding "comity, cooperation, and progress," but scorched-earth, hatred, vitriol, and partisanship.
