In TWO WORDS, What Do Republicans Stand For?
TAX CUTS
(At least that's what a lot of the people who vote for them think.)
Want to win a mid-term election next time? How about changing that to ANOTHER two-word or three-word, bumpersticker sized slogan that Republicans ALSO stand for?
PRIVATIZING SOCIAL SECURITY
or
VOUCHERIZING MEDICARE
Want to know why that would be effective? Just take a look at the AGES of the voter turnouts last night. The 65 and up crowd turned out in droves yesterday to vote for the party that they believe will not take their money away. It was OUR FAULT that we did not point out to them that this is ALSO the party who has made no secret about the fact that they want to take away their OLD AGE PENSION and their MEDICARE. If Democrats had made it clear that they would NEVER compromise on the defense of those two issues (Grover Norquist style---complete with intimidating citizens groups that score votes on these issues) we would have won last night.
