I am not a wealthy person and my voice/money does not compare to the Koch brothers, but I do have the Power/ability to determine where I spend my few dollars. It seems extremely foolish to me to vote Democratic and then spend my money at a place that completely supports Republicans . I refuse to spend one thin dime at Walmart, Home Depot, and a few other stores that blatantly use their money to promote Republicans. It isn't much but it is all I have.. I live in a red state so my vote doesn't really count much. I only wish more people were more conscientious as to where they spend their money.

(5,957 posts)I almost never find everything I need at Home Depot. The store sucks - they don't have the size I need or they're out of stock. Leow's better, but they're a long ride to get to.

(7,572 posts)The Leows near me is a lot better than the Home Depot as a store, a little further drive, but better stocked, better service.

(21,475 posts)It seems like bad business to mix politics and business but both Walmart and Home depot openly brag about supporting Republicans and yet they are successful. go figure. I am sure I buy from people who support Republicans but as long as they keep it to themselves I don't feel bad. There are some like Papa Johns and Chick filet, Hobby Lobby, that will never receive one dime of my money, at least from me they won't.

(1,451 posts)control of their buying power. They have allowed them to create monopolies all over the Country. I don't care where you go there is always a Wal-Mart. This is a hard game to play it would take great networking. Because the monopolies are so vast when you think you are making an educated choice you find out that one of them have their hands in whatever choice is before you. Like laundry detergent, Koch Brothers hands are on all of them. So they only make sure those products are the ones they offer.

(522 posts)The bad part is that most of the locals are repubs. But none of them make enough to buy their own politicians. I shop Home Depot as a last resort if the locally hardware stores don't what I need. As I cruise around the farmers market I do try to mention any positive democratic news I can.
