What's wrong with VA?

Last summer, the7th district Republicans fired Cantor because he was too progressive! The Dems could barely find a candidate and, when all is said, Brat got more votes than Cantor did in 2010. So, congratulations to VA-07, who succeeded in elected somebody WORSE than Cantor.

In VA-10 they elect a lobbyist whose campaign was seen by most as lousy and who was avoiding media and debates.

And Mark Warner, that everybody thought would win without problems, barely wins against lobbyist Ed Gillepsie. That one really surprised me.

I know the state is not exactly a blue state, but what happened here? Does anybody have an explanation?

6. As a long-time resident of the district Cantor vacated, I can tell you that

the Repub primary in which Brat beat Cantor had both Rs and Ds voting in it; a good number of Rs were getting sick of Cantor's high-handed treatment of the district's party faithful, and of course Ds were happy to vote for Brat in the primary just to unseat Cantor and allow any challenger D a better chance of winning, since the D would not be facing a powerful incumbent Cantor.

Rs never intended to vote for any D, of course. They just wanted Cantor out. They also knew that Ds might be more interested in the race than usual because it was perceived that with Cantor out the D candidate actually had a decent chance of winning against Brat, esp since Brat came out of the gate making one gaffe after another. All the Rs raced out to vote in their idiot, making sure they way outnumbered any Ds. When I was at the polls at about 11 a.m., it was very busy and had been all morning. I assumed they were all Rs voting because I did NOT see any of my black neighbors in line at all. Not like when Obama was running.

Ed Gillespie, another teabag moron who tripped over his dumb tongue every time he opened his mouth, ran outrageous lying ads about Warner. Warner's ads were fine, but I'm sure he didn't expect the race to be so close.

As far as VA being not so red, anyone who can look up my comments will see that I repeatedly tell people that VA is a very red state with one small area (N VA, near DC) that is heavily D, and a couple of city centers that vote D because of the black population residing there. Otherwise, VA is a sea of red. Believe me.
